After more than two weeks of formal practices -- following several months of workouts and condition in the offseason -- the Michigan high school football season has arrived.

The majority of Downriver and Dearborn teams will kick off their respective fall campaigns on Thursday, Aug 28, while some will start the festivities a day later.

In addition to previewing every game each week throughout the season, the News-Herald/Press & Guide staff of Alex Muller, Cory Linsner, and Samantha Elliott will also predict winners for each matchup.

Here is a preview of the entire opening week slate involving local Downriver and Dearborn area teams:
