Your Weekend Must-Watch: 'Mickey 17,' 'Daredevil: Born Again,' and More

This week sees the return of two icons on both TV and in your local cinemas. On the big screen, Bong Joon Ho delivers his first film after his Best Picture-winner, Parasite. In this sci-fi adventure, Mickey 17 stars Robert Pattinson and is a must-watch if you're headed to the theater. On streaming, Disney takes us back to Hell's Kitchen nearly eight years after the original Daredevil concluded on Netflix. Those are just two of the titles you need to check out this weekend.

Set years after the events of Daredevil Season 3, Daredevil: Born Again sees Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) enter a new phase of his life as he balances his time as a lawyer and the protector of Hell's Kitchen. Things might get a bit more challenging as Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'onofrio) rises to power and becomes the mayor of New York City.

Therese Lacson believes that the series fails to capture the magic of the original series in her review of Born Again, saying: After a meandering nine episodes of a courtroom drama arc, a masked villain arc (which essentially is a footnote), and a big fight against the bad guys arc, Daredevil: Born Again is a hodgepodge of ideas. Whether it's too many cooks in the kitchen due to its production woes or a desperation to recapture lightning in a bottle, in trying to revive Daredevil, all Disney accomplishes is giving us a watered-down Matt Murdock who neatly fits into the mold of all MCU stories.

Two Robert Pattinsons star in what is Bong Joon Ho's best English-language film yet.

A disposable employee (Robert Pattinson) is sent on a human expedition to colonize the ice world Niflheim. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact.

Ross Bonaime praises the film, saying: It's also just wonderful to watch Bong work on this scale, create the vision he wants post-Parasite, and in doing so, make an absurd comedy that hits on his favorite issues and topics, and with one of his best casts to date. Bong's English films have always felt slightly a step behind from the quality of his Korean films, but with Mickey 17, that gap is starting to narrow considerably.

When their convenience store magnate father suddenly dies, a pair of pampered Pakistani American brothers lose everything and are forced to reckon with their Baba's secret life of crime as they attempt to take up his mantle in the underworld.

Tania Hussain says that Deli Boys is one of the best new shows of the year, explaining: Deli Boys is an entertaining crime comedy that resonates with everyone as it offers insight into Pakistani-American culture, particularly the balance between cultural identities, and the challenges that come with it. Ultimately, it is a chaotic, irreverently funny, and refreshingly unpredictable series that will hook you in like a strong, bold cup of chai and leave you wanting more.
