The Israeli platform security behemoth currently uses an AI co-pilot to assist with policy creation and troubleshooting and has more than 55 AI-powered engines in its ThreatCloud repository, Shwed said. Check Point wants to integrate AI into everything from product design to customer interactions, and use AI as a cyber analyst to examine vast datasets while maintaining a higher level of precision than humans (see: CEO Gil Shwed on Why Check Point Decided to Buy Perimeter 81).
"Many of the security analysts that today do this mechanical job of looking, searching and correlating manually will be able to become security experts," Shwed said. "Give the daily job or the operational job to an AI bot that will find the threats and then analyze them. And we'll even make recommendations. And humans in some cases will just watch that system. A lot of that system will become automatic."
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Shwed also discussed:
Shwed, considered the inventor of the modern firewall, has authored several patents, including for the company's Stateful inspection technology, and received the Israel Prize for his contributions to the Israeli tech industry and philanthropy. Shwed is chairman of the Youth University of Tel Aviv University, a Tel Aviv University governor and founder of the university's Check Point Institute for Information Security.
