Beloved Chicago Pizza Chain Closing in June After 54 Years

An iconic pizza spot located in Chicago will be closing its doors next month.

My Pi, a classic Chicago deep-dish pizzeria, announced earlier this month that it would be closing its doors in June after being in business since 1971.

"After more than five decades of making our signature pizzas, the time has come to say goodbye. With heavy hearts, we announce that My Pi Pizza will be closing at the end of June," Richard Aronson said in a statement on social media. "From our first location on Sheridan Road in 1971 to our Bucktown home since 2000, My Pi has been a labor of love."

At one point the chain had 25 different locations across nine states.

"We've been honored to be part of your celebrations, your cravings, your late nights, and your family dinners. Your support means the world to us," Aronson added before revealing the restaurant's final days will come at the end of June. "Our last day of service will be in late June, and we'll continue accepting nationwide shipping orders through June 22. Come by for one last bite and help us say goodbye the best way we know how - over great pizza."

"We make our Chicago deep dish pizza dough like a 5th generation baker would - fresh every day, with 3 perfect rises. You get a sturdier crust that holds all that artisanal cheese and tomato sauce made with a secret recipe of herbs and spices created by our founder in the 1950s," My Pi said on its website.

While the beloved pizza joint will stop taking online orders on June 22, the Chicago Tribune reported the chain will be open until June 29.
