Answering the call: Community supports Statesboro dispatcher in health battle

Law enforcement in Bulloch County is coming together to help one of their own. Statesboro Police Department dispatcher Kisha Tremble says she is overwhelmed by the outpouring of support. " truly amazed," Tremble said. "Amazed by the support and thankful. Most of all, thankful." A fundraiser is underway for Tremble, who is battling serious health challenges. For years, she has been a steady voice behind the radio -- guiding officers through emergencies and serving the Statesboro community. But now, she's the one in need. The Bulloch County Sheriff's Office and the Statesboro Police Department have teamed up to launch a BBQ chicken fundraiser for her.Tremble is a single mother living with chronic kidney disease -- undergoing dialysis several times a week while waiting for a transplant. "Being on the transplant list, that can take several years, sometimes up to eight years," Tremble said. "And by getting a living donor, I could possibly get a kidney in, like, three months."The idea for the fundraiser started with a community member who reached out to deputies about Tremble's condition. Soon, both agencies joined forces to organize the event. "I think her response was, there are other people that probably need it as much or more than she does," said Sgt. Bubba Revell with the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office. "And I said, 'You're probably right. But you belong to us. You're part of our family.'"BBQ plates can be ordered now through Sept. 2, with pickup set for Sept. 12. Organizers hope to sell up to 1,000 plates, with donations also being accepted through CashApp, Venmo, and Zelle.Through it all, Tremble says her faith, family, and community support keep her strong. "I just want to thank everybody," Tremble said. "My family, my church community, and just so many people I can't even name. I'm truly amazed by the support."HOW TO HELP:Donations may be sent to $KishaTremble via Cash App, @Kisha-Tremble on Venmo, or Zelle: 912-486-0162To order BBQ plates, visit the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office Facebook page facebook.com/share/p/1FpYKh78rFPlates: $10 eachOrder by: Sept. 2Pickup: Sept. 12, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.Location: Bulloch County Sheriff's OfficeAll proceeds go directly to Kisha to help with expenses during this difficult time.
