It has been about a year and a half since we first learned that Portland could be on the verge of getting an ice cream spot that would feature ice cream with alcohol in it.
In November of 2023, Willamette Week reported Portland's first Tipsy Scoop would open in the coming spring on North Mississippi Avenue.
Later that spring, while working on a roundup of new ice cream places, it became clear the date was being moved back. And moved back.
But now, as we look out into the oncoming spring of 2025, Tipsy Scoop has an opening date: Friday, May 2.
Tipsy Scoop is an ice cream chain that styles itself as a "barlour," you know, an ice cream parlor and a bar.
The ice cream they serve is for adults, because it features real booze.
With locations in New York City, Washington, D.C. and the Bahamas, Portland's barlour at 3987 N. Mississippi Ave. will be its first West Coast location.
"We are working with local partners like Wild Roots for a Marionberry vodka ice cream, sold exclusively at the Portland location, and Portland Syrups for delicious ice cream sundae toppings," said a press release announcing the opening on Tuesday.
Tipsy Scoop will celebrate its opening with $1 scoops for the first 25 people in line, flights, a raffle and more. You can RSVP to attend the opening from 4 to 11 p.m. here.
