WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity is celebrating a significant milestone in its mission to help families across the Cape Fear region.
The organization recently served its 500th family, reaching its 2025 strategic goal six months ahead of schedule. This success is credited to improvements in their building and repair processes, such as pre-building walls in the warehouse and enhancing their home repair program.
Christina Ferris, Development Director at Cape Fear Habitat, gave us a tour of the warehouse and explained how a stable, affordable home can transform lives.
"A safe, affordable home affects your health, mental well-being, and finances," Ferris said. "When families don't have to worry about rent or the condition of their home, it makes a huge difference. For them, knowing their home is secure and affordable is life-changing."
Ferris also highlighted the importance of volunteers in making Habitat's work possible. Looking ahead, the organization is planning its next strategic meeting to explore ways to continue supporting the community in the future.
