Students from various colleges participated in an outreach programme organised by Bureau of Indian Standards at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur on Friday to mark World Standards Day.

A press release said the programme featured a quality walk wherein students, faculty members and BIS officials took part to showcase the importance of using BIS-certified and quality-assured products. A carnival, which had interactive exhibits and demonstrations on product quality and certification, was also held wherein many organisations and government agencies had set up stalls.

Students also took part in competitions such as quiz and poster design. M. Leenus Jesu Martin, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, SRMIST and S. D. Dayanand, Head, BIS Chennai, spoke.
