Bryce Young injury news keeps Panthers QB playing this week status in question

Bryce Young injury news keeps Panthers QB playing this week status in question

And when the Panthers take on the Buffalo Bills, they might do it without their starting quarterback.

Bryce Young remains a major question mark heading into Sunday's game due to an ankle injury.

If Young doesn't play, Andy Dalton would get the start at QB against Josh Allen and the Bills.

Bryce Young is at best questionable for Week 8.

He has missed Wednesday and Thursday's practices entirely.

"Young is showing good progress including light runs today so no official starter decision for Sunday vs. Bills yet," ESPN's Cameron Wolfe wrote on X. "But Andy Dalton has run 1st team offense last 2 days in practice."

Given how important it is for the gameplan for the starting QB to be with the offense during practice, it seems Young's chances of suiting up against the Bills are slim.

Friday's practice report would likely confirm that, if Young again missed out.

If Young is out and Dalton starts, the Panthers will have to promote one of their practice squad quarterbacks, either Hendon Hooker or Mike White.

Young is in his third season after being the No. 1 overall pick in 2023 out of Alabama.

He's completing a career-best 61.6% of his passes and has thrown 11 touchdowns compared to five interceptions, which is also tracking to be the best rate of his career.

But this week, it might be Dalton's turn to get the start.
