Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani on loan, and whether the Lilywhites will have an option or obligation for a permanent move has been revealed.
Earlier on transfer deadline day, it was claimed that personal terms between the France international and the Lilywhites were 'almost done' and negotiations were continuing over a move with PSG.
Kolo Muani was initially expected to rejoin Juventus on a permanent deal following a productive loan spell in Italy last season, contributing 10 goals and three assists from 22 matches for the Old Lady across all competitions.
However, an agreement could not be found between PSG and Juventus, allowing Spurs to quickly move to the front of the queue for the former Eintracht Frankfurt attacker.
According to The Athletic, the two clubs have now shaken hands on a loan deal for Kolo Muani, who is en route to London to complete his Spurs medical and sign his contract.
Kolo Muani to Tottenham 'agreed' as loan details revealed
The deal will supposedly not contain an option or obligation for a permanent move, in spite of the fact that PSG were said to have been insisting on the latter to be included in any loan agreement.
However, the French giants will receive a nominal €5m (£4.3m) loan fee for the striker, who is contracted to the club until the summer of 2028, but he is surplus to requirements in the French capital under Luis Enrique.
Kolo Muani made the move to PSG in an £82.3m deal from Frankfurt in 2023, but he has only managed 11 goals and seven assists in 54 appearances for the reigning Ligue 1 and European champions across all competitions over the past two years.
The 26-year-old also caught the eye of Manchester United earlier this summer, but the Red Devils opted not to proceed with a deal, instead signing Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
Bayern Munich could have posed a late threat to Tottenham's move for Kolo Muani, having briefly seen their loan deal for Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson plunged into uncertainty, but the Bavarians' move for the Senegalese is now back on the cards.
Why are Tottenham signing Kolo Muani?
Tottenham boss Thomas Frank had few attacking concerns at the beginning of the season, as the rejuvenated Richarlison managed three goal involvements in his first two Premier League games of the campaign, two of his own and one assist.
The 28-year-old will be staying in North London despite previous talk of an exit, and he was keeping record signing Dominic Solanke on the bench before Saturday's 1-0 loss to Bournemouth.
Solanke missed that match entirely due to an ankle injury, and while there are currently no indications that his issue is overly severe, it remains to be seen how long he is sidelined for.
As Richarlison's recent fitness record leaves a lot to be desired, Spurs would have taken a huge risk not bringing in a new number nine on deadline day, and it will be fascinating to see how Kolo Muani performs in the Premier League following his success in Italy and Germany.
