Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday took a swipe at the Election Commission (EC), claiming it has been subjected to "SIR" -- special intensive revision -- by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' in Bihar.
Speaking to reporters at Patna airport before boarding his return flight, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister alleged that the EC had been busy making things easy for the BJP. "The 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' has done an SIR of the Election Commission itself. The EC had been busy making jugaad for the BJP, but despite that, the party seems poised for a defeat in the Bihar assembly polls," Yadav said.
Earlier in the day, Akhilesh Yadav joined Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav at a rally in Arrah, after participating in the Yatra in Saran. He also met RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav at his Patna residence.
"I am confident that Tejashwi will form the next government in Bihar. I may not be in power at present, but I will try to help him by sharing my experiences," Akhilesh Yadav told reporters outside Lalu Prasad's house.
Responding to BJP's allegation that the INDIA bloc was trying to protect "infiltrators" by opposing the EC's SIR exercise, the SP chief retorted, "In our state, we have an immigrant (pravaasi) as the chief minister."
