Utah adds UC Davis cornerback Blake Cotton from the transfer portal

Utah's second transfer commitment on Wednesday came from a position the Utes have been heavily pursuing via the transfer portal: cornerback.

Former UC Davis corner Blake Cotton made the announcement on social media that he is transferring to Utah.

His post came a little over a week Cotton announced he had received a scholarship offer from the school.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Cotton has played the past three seasons at the Football Championship Level for UC Davis.

Cotton had his best collegiate season during the 2024 campaign, finishing with a career-high 24 tackles and two pass deflections.

During three seasons playing for the Aggies, Cotton had 49 tackles and nine pass deflections.

Cotton should have the chance to compete for playing time next season at Utah, with Cameron Calhoun hitting the transfer portal and Zemaiah Vaughn exhausting his eligibility.

Williams is the ninth transfer commit for the Utes thus far -- he's also the third cornerback commit, joining Texas A&M's Donovan Saunders and Garden City Community College's Jeremiah Caldwell.

Utah's other transfer portal additions are New Mexico quarterback Devon Dampier, New Mexico State running back Mike Washington, Tulsa wide receiver Joseph Williams, Mississippi State wide receiver Creed Whittemore, Missouri punter Orion Phillips and Oregon linebacker Jaxson Jones.
