The One Show's Alex Jones suffers major blunder as she says 'I give up' | Bristol Live

Things began rather awkwardly during Monday night's instalment of BBC's The One Show.

As the programme commenced, which recently saw one host left speechless, audiences witnessed hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp standing up, prepared to outline what lay ahead in the episode.

Nevertheless, when Alex began to speak, it became apparent she had become somewhat tongue-tied. She remarked: "Hello and welcome to your first One cheek- One.."

Upon realising she couldn't articulate her words properly, Roman erupted into laughter at the gaffe whilst Alex informed viewers: "What a start! We are live."

In an attempt to rescue his co-presenter, Roman intervened, stating: "We'll run it again! Hello and welcome to your first One Show of the week and we're live on BBC One and iPlayer."

Whilst Alex continued chuckling at the blunder, she added: "Oh, I give up at the first hurdle."

Despite this, Roman proceeded with the introduction, informing audiences they would be chatting to Jon Richardson, Lindsey Coulson, Brett Goldstein and Imogen Poots later in the programme, reports Wales Online.

Roman's stint on the BBC programme follows the announcement that he's participating in this year's Celebrity Race Across The World alongside his sister Harley Moon.

Discussing his involvement in the series during last week's The One Show, the 32-year-old revealed: "It was high octane, it was the scariest thing I've ever had to do in my life, I had anxiety beyond, but it was the most incredible thing."

Also trading the luxurious lifestyle for rucksacks alongside Roman and his sister are broadcaster and author Anita Rani with her father, Bal, plus actor Dylan Llewellyn accompanied by his mother, Jackie.

BBC audiences will additionally witness presenter and DJ Tyler West participating in the series alongside his fiancée, Molly Rainford.

A synopsis for the forthcoming programme states: "This series takes the race through one of the most diverse and visually stunning routes yet, spanning the undiscovered Caribbean and Pacific coast of Central America.

"The journey begins on the idyllic Caribbean island of Isla Mujeres, just off the easternmost point of Mexico and challenges teams to race 5,900km to reach the finish line in the remote and breathtaking Península de La Guajira in Colombia - the gateway to South America."
