Tributes have poured in for a "one in a million" Leeds United fan after he heartbreakingly died in a crash in Scunthorpe.
Jac Sanderson, 21, died as a passenger in a car crash on the A159 High Street in Messingham, Scunthorpe. The driver of the car Jac was in, a 22-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst over the prescribed limit. Four other people were injured in the crash, although none of their injuries are thought to be serious.
Tributes have poured in for Jac, who was a Leeds United fan. "You were someone special to so many people Jac," Meg Curry posted on Facebook. "You gave us all a headache and a bellyache from laughter at the same time. We are all so, so lucky to have called you someone we had the pleasure of being great friends with. You made every room light up, you made every person you met a better version of themselves and made all the ones around you feel safe.
"You were one in a million, our Jac, from me down here to you up there, rest in peace. One day we will two-step together again."
Jac played for Bottesford Town FC. The club said in a statement: "We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Jac Sanderson on Friday. Everyone at Bottesford Town FC sends our heartfelt condolences to Jac's family, friends, and all who knew him."
Scunthorpe United said in a statement: "All at Scunthorpe United is devastated to learn of Jac's passing. As a local lad to Scunthorpe, we're sure this will resonate with many in the town. Our thoughts and condolences are with Jac's family and friends at this sad time."
Jac had planned to attend Leeds United's 0-0 draw with Newcastle United on Saturday evening. Fans were encouraged to clap on the 21st minute in his memory.
The New Beckwood pub in Scunthorpe, where Jac was a regular, said: "It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to a dear friend in Jac Sanderson. He was a regular here at the Beckwood for many years along with a lot of his friends, he leaves behind a legacy of friendships, camaraderie and memories that will last a lifetime!
"Always such a smiley face and always lit up every room he was in, with his contagious laughter & many stories, his presence will be dearly missed here at the Beckwood. As a business we would like give our sincere condolences to his family & we will offer our support with absolutely anything we can help with during this difficult time. Sleep tight buddy, forever in our hearts. All Leeds aren't we."
In a statement, Humberside Police said: "The driver of the Peugeot, a 22-year-old man, reportedly failed a roadside breath sample and has subsequently been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst over the prescribed limit. He remains in police custody assisting with ongoing enquiries at this time.
"A 23-year-old man and 21-year-old man who were also passengers in the Peugeot, and the driver of the Jaguar, a 26-year-old man, were taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not thought to be serious at this time.
"Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances around the collision, and officers would encourage anyone who witnessed the incident, has any information, CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist officers with their investigation, to please contact our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 481 of 29 August."
