The Woodberry Forest and Blue Ridge track and field teams brought home state championships in their respective division at the VISAA state track and field championships at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond.
The Tigers won the Division I title, while the Barons captured the Division II championship.
Division I
Woodberry Forest finished with 151.5 points to best St. Christopher's (117.5 points) for the Division I boys team title. St. Anne's-Belfield (55 points, fifth place) and Fork Union (51 points, sixth place) also earned top 10 team finishes in the meet.
John Morrison had a strong showing at the state meet for Woodberry. The junior won individual state titles in the 100-meter dash (11.01 seconds) and long jump (24 feet, 8.75 inches) and finished second in the 200 (22.25 seconds). He also teamed with Lukas Sanker, Sheldon Robinson and Kevin Nti to win the 4X100 relay in 41.6 seconds.
Toby Warmack and Kenan Andrews also earned individual state titles for the Tigers. Warmack won gold in the high jump after clearing six feet, seven inches, while Andrews captured the triple jump crown with a leap of 48 feet, 8.5 inches.
Athletes from St. Anne's-Belfield and Fork Union also won event titles.
STAB long-distance ace Quinn Eliason won blue ribbons in the 1,600 (4:14.73) and 3,200 (9:50.07), while Tyson Boyd won the state championship in the discus (155-06) and placed second in the shot put (53-03.50) for the Saints.
The FUMA quartet of David Eaton, Robert Callahan, Nic Willis and Malachi Walsh won the 4X800 relay in 8:10.33.
Division II
Blue Ridge won its second straight outdoor state championship in dominant fashion.
The Barons finished with 143 points, 61.5 points ahead of second-place North Cross (81.5). The Barons' dominant performance was anchored by strong showings in the relays and field events.
Micheal Roman shined for Blue Ridge. He won the 100-meter dash title in a time of 10.89 and teamed with Darius Stafford, Yariel Cruz and Dayo Matsinhe to win the 4X100 relay in 42.44 seconds. Cruz also was part of the Blue Ridge 4X400 relay team that came home first in 3:34.02. Cruz was joined on the winning 4X400 relay squad by teammates Lucas Monrabal, Izayk Dolo and Hamlin Kim.
Pedro Daviu earned a pair of event state championships for Blue Ridge. He won the long jump crown with a leap of 21 feet, 11.5 inches and brought home the triple jump title with a leap of 47 feet, 9 inches. Valdin Sone won the shot put state title for the Barons with a toss of 51 feet, 11 inches.
Blue Ridge wasn't the only Central Virginia team to win event state titles.
Covenant's Jon Nathan Lawrence, who won the VISAA Division II state cross country championship in the fall, won state titles in the 800 (1:59.4) and the 1,600 (4:24.2). Tandem Friends' Hayes Buppert, who raced to the VISAA Division III state cross country championship earlier this season, won the 3,200 state title in 9:57.8.
Miller School's Jordan Hairston, who was a member of the Mavericks' state champion boys basketball team this past winter, won the state high jump title after clearing six feet, three inches.
On the girls' side, St. Anne's-Belfield's Emily Maurer won the state title in the discus with a throw of 115 feet, 8 inches.
