We all know that home-field advantage can be a game-changer in sports, but can a team's stadium actually be their secret lucky charm? A recent study looked at the world of home-team success in major U.S. leagues to find out what stadiums and arenas are the luckiest places to play in.
The researchers looked at all the good stuff - home win rates, weather vibes, and scoring averages - to figure out what teams get an extra boost from their home turf.
New York definitely made a splash in the rankings, proving that the city's stadiums are where the magic happens.
MLB: We'll start with the Yankees and the Mets since their season opener is tomorrow (3/27). Yankee Stadium (Home of the New York Yankees) hit a home run as the sixth luckiest MLB stadium. The Yankees they held their ground with a 51.90% win rate at home and blasting an average of 1.48 home runs per game - they were on fire!
NFL: Highmark Stadium (Home of the Buffalo Bills) snagged the #2 spot as the NFL's luckiest stadium. The Bills were crushing it with a perfect 100% win rate at home, scoring an average of 34.3 points per game.
NBA: Madison Square Garden (Home of the New York Knicks) landed as the fifth luckiest NBA stadium. When playing at home, the Knicks were making 77% of their free throws and knocking down over 35% of their points from beyond the arc.
NHL: UBS Arena (Home of the New York Islanders) found itself at the ninth spot in the NHL rankings - making it one of the less fortunate stadiums in New York when it comes to home-field advantage.
