Bulgarian Folklore Festival held in Ottawa on October 18, 2025

On October 18, 2025 a Bulgarian Folklore Festival was held in Ottawa. The event was organized by the National Capital Region Bulgarian Community to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Community's Foundation. Thanks to it a number of concerts, cultural and educational initiatives of the Bulgarian community in Canada are successfully ongoing for many years. The Folklore Festival in October began with a concert, followed by a "Horoteka" for all participants and guests. The concert program included performances of the folklore singer Kristina Georgieva from Quebec city, the Folk Dance Club "Izvorche" from Ottawa, the Folk Dance Club "Viti Gaitani" from Montreal, the Folk Dance Club "Hopa-Tropa, Iha-Ha" from Kitchener, the "Orpheus" Choir from Ottawa, the Folk Dance Ensemble "Dimitrovche" from Toronto, the Folk Dance Club "Balkan Rhythms" from Quebec city and the Choir "Ot Izvora" from Toronto.

On the occasion of this anniversary and with regard to the Foundation's contribution in maintaining the Bulgarian spirit among our compatriots in Canada, on behalf of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria to Canada H. E. Ambassador Plamen Georgiev presented an honorary certificate of appreciation to the Foundation. It was accepted by Mr. Anton Minkov, President of the National Capital Region Bulgarian Community.
