Award-winning Ambulance series to film in Yorkshire for first time

The award-winning series Ambulance will film in Yorkshire for the first time.

The BAFTA award-winning series will follow the Yorkshire Ambulance Service across the county, including cities, towns, and remote villages.

The series, filmed across the winter and spring of 2025, will show the pressures facing paramedics as the service deals with high demand.

Each episode will also show the ambulance service responding to 999 calls in real time.

This includes the intensity of the control room, where call handlers and dispatchers make life and death decisions about who receives help and who must wait.

The series will show the day-to-day life of the paramedics as they respond to emergencies across Yorkshire, an area spanning nearly 6,000 square miles.

It shows the ambulance service responding to more than five million people across the county, and the difficulties that come with caring for people across the varied landscape of the county.

The series will also show the dangers of the high demand on the NHS, including the mounting backlog of patients, and the danger it poses to those in need of urgent care.

There will also be footage showing patients being kept waiting in hospital corridors after arriving at the hospital and paramedics going above and beyond to bridge the gaps and deliver the highest standard of care possible.

The series overview claims it "captures relentless pressures facing paramedics as they navigate England's largest county, from bustling cities to the edges of towns and seaside communities to remote villages in the Yorkshire Dales".

It added: "Set against the backdrop of a historically high demand on the NHS, the series reveals powerful stories of humanity, resilience, humour and courage on the frontline of emergency care.

"Ambulance takes viewers straight to the heart of the NHS, as well as witnessing the challenges facing our nation through the eyes of those confronting questions of life and death every day.

"Each episode is a snapshot of a service that not only responds to emergencies, but also bridges the gaps in social care, mental health services and social provision."
