'Consider a different route' warning after motorway collision in busy Irish city

Major of roadworks are set to take place today on a busy motorway

IRISH commuters are set for chaos this morning as number of collisions and major roadworks are expected to cause delays.

And multiple Bus Eireann services are also facing delays this morning due to a mechanical issue.

Motorists have been warned "some delays" will occur following a collision very early this morning.

The early morning collision occurred on M18/N18 between Junction 10, NW and Junction 11, Dromoland, which affected the hard shoulder lane.

It was followed by a collision on the M7 in Limerick between J29 - M7/N24 and J28 - Castletroy headed eastbound.

Traffic bosses have warned the Limerick collision "will cause delays".

Transport Infrastructure Ireland said: "Delays to your journey will occur.

"Consider a different journey route or start time.

"When approaching the collision location, drive with caution, reduce your speed and obey instructions from emergency services."

Traffic boffins also took to social media to warn motorists of further delays on routes around Dublin and Cork.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) said: "Congestion Report: M50 Northbound: J7- J6. M50 Southbound: J3 - J13.

"Delays on routes around Dublin: M1(S) - J7 - J2, N2(S) J1. N3(S) J4 - J3, M4/N4(E) J6 & J4 - J3. N7(E) J7 - J5 & J3 - J1a.

"Delays on routes around Cork: M8(S) J18 - J19, N8 (W) Lower Glanmire Rd. N40(W) J10 - J9 , N25(W) J2. N27 Cork Airport. N28 Carrs Hill."

They added: "Some delays to your journey may occur. When approaching the congestion location, reduce your speed and drive with caution."

They said: "Minor delays to your journey may occur. When approaching the collision location, reduce your speed and drive with caution."

ROADWORKS ONGOING

And motorists should also be aware of a major of roadworks on a busy Irish motorway set to take place today.

There are roadworks ongoing on M1/N1 northbound between Junction 6 Balbriggan (near Stamullen) and Junction 11 Monasterboice (near Drogheda).

TII said: "Lane 2 affected. Starting today at 09:00. Tentative end date today at 15:00.

"When approaching the roadworks area, drive with caution, be aware of road workers and reduce your speed."

Bus Eireann warned people of service disruptions with some bus routes.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT DISRUPTIONS

Route 421 07:45am from Claremorris to Swinford is currently delayed by 40 minutes.

And due to a major incident at t R148 from Kilcock to Enfield, the route 115 service is "severely affected" between Enfield and Kilcock.

Route 115 is diverted to the M4, impacting the following stops:

* Ferrans lock

* Cloncurry Cross

* Alternative stops: Enfield Main St SuperValue, Kilcock

Route 201 07:40am ex Boherboy Road-CUH has been cancelled.

Customers are being advised that diversions will be in place on routes 40 and 257 due to roadworks in Macroom between 7pm and 6am each weekday from Monday, September 8 to Friday, September 12.

Bus Eireann said: "Route 40 services from Tralee and Route 257 services from Killarney, when approaching Macroom from the western side will travel on the Macroom By Pass to the roundabout at the eastern side of Macroom town, to return to Macroom.

"Route 40 services to Tralee and Route 257 services to Killarney will depart Macroom Depot, turning left to travel to the roundabout and will then join the Macroom by pass to resume journeys.

"Passengers for Route 257 should note that the following bus stops on Millstreet Road will not be served during these times: *219201 - The Hermitage *219211 - The Hermitage

"Bus Eireann apologises for any inconvenience caused."
