From a 1970s-themed weekend to a sea shanty performance, there's plenty to enjoy in Burnham-on-Sea over the next week.

The Burnham Book Festival 2025 and a magic show are also on the agenda.

A magician is set to entertain at a theatre in Burnham-on-Sea.

Malcolm the Magician will perform at the Princess Theatre and Arts Centre on Wednesday, September 3, at 2.30pm.

The show, organised in association with the Somerset Community Foundation, offers ticket prices of £6.50 for over 65s and £10 for under 65s.

Malcolm, who entertains audiences from age three to 104, is well known for his passion for magic and always carries a pack of cards.

The ticket price includes refreshments.

A tribute to the 1970s will take place in Brean this weekend.

The Beachcomber is hosting a three-day event from Friday, September 5, to Sunday, September 7.

It will feature live music, tribute acts, bingo, and family entertainment.

The event begins on Friday with a children's disco at 5.30pm, followed by bingo at 7.30pm and a performance by ex-Showaddywaddy member Billy Shannon at 9pm.

Saturday's line-up includes more children's entertainment, a David Essex tribute by Christopher Nott at 8pm, and a 1970s tribute band, 70s Explosion, at 9.30pm.

The weekend concludes on Sunday with a Suzi Quatro tribute at 8.30pm.

A sea shanty group will perform in Burnham this week.

Barnacle Buoys, an a cappella sea shanty crew, will take to the stage at St Andrew's Church on Friday, September 5.

The event will begin at 7pm, with doors opening at 6.15pm.

Tickets are priced at £12 and are available in advance from Burnham Information Centre.

Proceeds from the event will support church projects and the RNLI.

St Andrew's Church is located on Victoria Street.

The Burnham Book Festival will offer a variety of events celebrating literature and creativity this weekend.

Held at the Princess Theatre and Arts Centre and Burnham-on-Sea Library, the festival takes place on Saturday, September 6.

The first show will start at 10am, with the last set to start at 7pm.

Tickets to all shows can be purchased at theprincesstheatre.co.uk/events/burnham-book-festival-4.

Highlights include a creative writing workshop by Penny McPherson, storytelling by Alan Huddart, and a talk by Angie Clarke.

Local writers will also meet attendees, sharing insights into their works.

Elizabeth Delo will lead a character creation workshop, while Robert Garnham will host a comedy poetry workshop.

The festival will also feature the annual writing competition awards ceremony and a unique neuroscience and music session by Dr Andrew Curran.
