Sustainability and innovation at the heart of the strategy for 2026

Sustainability and innovation at the heart of the strategy for 2026

With the implementation of the new EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), the packaging sector faced a radical transformation. Reducing plastic, adopting mono-material solutions, and improving recycling efficiency were the key drivers of change that affected producers, brands, and consumers alike.

In this context, Cartonpack Group showcased its clear strategy at Fruit Attraction 2025: anticipating market needs and turning new challenges into opportunities for sustainable growth.

In recent months, the Group has strengthened its expertise through strategic acquisitions, aimed at integrating technologies and know-how in both paperboard and plastic packaging. The goal was to develop packaging solutions that not only complied with regulatory requirements but also became true drivers of sustainability, helping to reduce environmental impact across the entire supply chain.

At the same time, Cartonpack was highly attentive to emerging consumer trends, such as the growing demand for on-the-go consumption and ready-to-eat snacks, which required innovative, practical, and sustainable packaging solutions that combined functionality with environmental responsibility.

What made these packs unique was the easy separability of their components, allowing consumers to correctly dispose of each material in the appropriate recycling stream, ensuring a complete and efficient recycling process.

The combination of cardboard and plastic brought together functionality and sustainability: the strength and natural feel of the paperboard with the protection and clarity of the lid, preserving product freshness while ensuring immediate shelf appeal. With their practical and eco-friendly design, these hybrid packs addressed the needs of the market, which was increasingly focused on packaging that blended aesthetic appeal, usability, and environmental responsibility.

Through this evolutionary path, Cartonpack consolidated its role as an integrated supplier of sustainable and diversified packaging solutions for the fruit and vegetable sector, with a portfolio ranging from paper-based packaging to biodegradable and compostable polyethylene (PE) flexible films. This offering provided concrete, certified solutions aligned with the latest European guidelines on circular economy and environmental impact reduction.

"Our commitment," stated Cartonpack Group's Management, "was to support our customers through this historic transition, offering solutions that combined innovation, functionality, and environmental responsibility. We were no longer just packaging producers, but strategic partners for sustainability and packaging design."
