Hailey Whitters Gets 5 Rabies Shots After She Finds Bat in an Unexpected Spot After Using the Toilet

Country star Hailey Whitters revealed she had to get five rabies shots after she found a bat in her toilet.

The singer, 35, posted a TikTok about the crazy experience on March 18 and included clips of her trying to capture the bat after it was found inside the toilet.

In the text overlayed on the video, Whitters wrote, "She doesn't know it yet, but she's about to get five rabies shots from peeing in this toilet before she knew there was a bat in there." The clips included her shocked reaction as she walked to the bathroom and clips of the bat inside the toilet.

Since the video was first posted, it's picked up traction on TikTok and garnered over 400,000 views. Fans in the comments expressed how the experience unlocked a new fear for them, with one fan writing, "this is a nightmare I don't wanna have."

According to the CDC, bats are typically the most common animals to carry rabies within the U.S. and are found in 49 states except Hawaii. Bats that are found in unusual places -- like inside a toilet -- can be warning signs of behavior caused by rabies and it's recommended to contact animal control or a local public health department.

The CDC also recommends avoiding all contact with bats and getting help to safely capture a bat found inside. They also recommend seeking medical attention right away, especially if you think you've been bitten, scratched or come into contact with bat saliva.

In the comments, Whitters wrote she was "not sure" how the bat could've ended up inside the toilet in the first place.

"The pest removal guy said it came through the chimney in the middle of the night," she wrote. "[But I'm] not sure how it found the toilet." Whitters also confirmed that she "got the shots and we are good over here."
