The New York Jets acquired pass rusher Haason Reddick to be a difference maker.
Once he finally got on the field, Reddick has not been that according to Pro Football Focus.
Reddick, 30, ended up in New York via an offseason trade. He quickly decided to holdout for a new contract which has not come.
Eventually Reddick did report to the Jets on Oct. 22. Since then, the eye test says his impact has been minimal. So do the fancy stats.
Reddick recorded half a sack in his second game in New York during the Jets' 21-13 win over the Houston Texans in Week 9. Since that outing, Reddick has been among the worst pass rushers according to Pro Football Focus' metrics.
Per PFF, Reddick's 49.8 grade so far in 2024 makes him the second-worst edge defender in the NFL currently. Even in New York's win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Reddick was still poor... posting his worst PFF grade of the year.
While analytics are only part of the picture for a player, Reddick needs to be a lot better to justify the Jets trading for him... and certainly for himself if he does want a new contract.
