Google's AI Chrome Assistant

Google's AI Chrome Assistant

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Log onto Google recently? Maybe you've noticed something a little different. It's a star-shape icon in the upper right-hand corner of your browser window.

It looks like a star, but it's actually a shortcut for Gemini. That's right, Google's AI chatbot is built into Chrome.

Safe to say, Google isn't giving up on the AI hype. It's going all in instead, and integrating its assistant directly into your browsing experience.

Click the shortcut and Gemini springs into action. It summarize web pages from your searched, delivering key takeaways all without you ever having to leave the page.

Gemini in Chrome is basically the search engines vision of an AI assistant for the web that's designed to make information easier to digest.

There's a catch though, as your activity will be used to help train the tech.

Google has already offered webpage summaries before -- you just had to manually paste the website link into the chatbot.

Apple Tv, Forget the "Plus"

Apple is making some branding shifts. The company is dropping the "plus" from its streaming service name.

Soon it will just be Apple TV.

It's been about six-years with the streaming service that launched back in November 2019.

It might create some confusion though with the streaming service, hardware device, and the app all sharing the same name.

Still, rebrands aren't new in the streaming world. Take HBO Max. It simplified it's brand from HBO Max to just Max...to now HBO Max again.

In that case the company cited brand familiarity as the driving factor.
