Here are some stories you may have missed this week in central Ohio.
Nestled among the beech trees and ponds of one of the Blacklick area's most private neighborhoods sits a nearly 9,800-square-foot home, the stature of which is highlighted by an in-ground saltwater pool and hot tub, garage space for 10 cars and a four-story elevator.
The seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom estate, 7975 Wills Run Lane, Jefferson Township, is on the market for $3.5 million, though with the hefty price tag comes 4.37 acres in the gated Back Forty neighborhood of Colts Neck. Just 10 miles northeast of John Glenn Columbus International Airport, the home is a rare combination of secluded and sprawling, said Realtor Jill Rudler with The Rudler Team at Keller Williams Capital Partners.
"The privacy and the pool-entertaining area, I mean, if you had a family, your house would be the spot all your kids' friends would want to come to," Rudler said. "You could play soccer out there; you could have them over for swim parties -- it's very special, the uniqueness of the privacy of it."
Within the 1996 custom-built mansion are three floors and an unfinished basement, with oversized-elevator access to all four levels. Down the winding driveway and beside the front courtyard are multiple garages on both the sides of the home.
To the right is a three-car garage with a car lift in one of its bays -- fitting up to four cars total -- and to the left are two one-car garages, separated by a drive-through that continues to more covered parking in the back.
Upon stepping into the home, you'll find a long, bright foyer containing one of the property's three functional fireplaces. Past the corridor is a two-story, cherry-paneled great room and library, complete with a second-level catwalk and Italian Murano chandelier.
"Like I said, it's like the great entertaining house," Rudler said, characterizing the home's design style as timeless.
Beyond the dining room and through a brick hallway is a screened-in porch, which can also be accessed through the updated kitchen. Also on the main level are two half-baths and the primary bedroom, a suite that Rudler described as a "retreat," taking up an entire side of the home.
Up the stairs -- or elevator -- to the second floor and you'll find four other bedrooms, one of which comes with a Juliette balcony, plus a designated family room. Two bedrooms have their own private bathrooms, while the other two have their own half-baths but share a shower and tub Jack-and-Jill style, Rudler said.
On the third floor is a finished multipurpose room with ceramic floors and ample cabinet space, which Rudler said was used by the estate's original owner as a space to carry out their clock-making business. Most recently, it was used by the now-seller as storage and display space for a sweeping Lego collection and a home for their ping-pong table.
The third floor also has four unfinished rooms currently serving as attic space that offer the opportunity to expand if dormers were to be added, Rudler said.
The unfinished basement is home to the estate's other full bathroom and two bedrooms, which Rudler said are quite large and could be used for other functions like a media room, which is what the current owner opted for. Rudler added that the basement includes a "sunken area" intended for a golf simulator.
The home also offers laundry in three different places, with separate machines located in the basement, master suite and on the second floor.
