HCA to hold golf tournament

Horse Creek Academy will hold its inaugural Horse & Heritage Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Houndsdlake Country Club, 901 Houndslake Drive. Check-in begins at 12:30 p.m followed by a 2 p.m. shotgun start. The cost is $100 per person or $400 per team. For an entry form, email [email protected].

Library to hold discussion series

The Let's Talk About Discussion series will meet at the Aiken County Public Library, 314 Chesterfield St. S.W., September through December. The theme is Good Book/Bad Movie. The discussion series will begin Tuesday, Sept. 9, with a screening of "The Scarlet Letter" at 6 p.m. The movie also will be shown at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10. The discussion of "The Scarlet Letter" by Nathaniel Hawthorne will be led by Dr. Tom Mack at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16. The program is made possible through a grant from the S.C. Humanities. Quilting group seeks show entries

The Carolina Pine Quilters are seeking entries for its annual quilt show. The theme for this year is It's a Jungle Out There. Entry forms are due by Friday, Sept. 12. For more information or to print an entry form, visit carolinapinequilters.org.

Touch-A-Truck to be held Sept. 13

The City of Aiken Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department will hold its 23rd annual Touch-A-Truck from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the H. Odell Weeks Activities Centers, 1700 Whiskey Road. The family friendly event is free and open to the public and allows children to climb, sit and explore a wide array of vehicles. A sensory hour will be held from 9-10 a.m. and a Power Wheels Derby will be held at 10 a.m. Registration is $5, and is open to ages 8 years or younger. They must bring their own helmet and vehicle.
