The Two and a Half Men alum broke his silence on his estrangement from his 21-year-old daughter -- whom he shares with ex-wife Denise Richards -- admitting that the root of their rift was a mystery to him.
"As long as everybody is still in the game, there's always a shot for a better tomorrow," he said during a Sept. 5 appearance on Good Morning America. "I don't really know what I did, that's the problem. I don't know what I'm supposed to apologize for."
While the actor -- who also shares Lola, 20, with Denise, as well as Cassandra, 40, with ex Paula Profit and 16-year-old twins Bob and Max with ex-wife Brooke Mueller -- was unsure how exactly his relationship with Sami took a turn, he seemed certain that things will eventually smooth over.
"I have absolute faith that this is not a forever thing," he continued. "Her and I will work it out. We have a history of that that's too valuable to let some moment destroy all of that."
