Georgia baseball to host NCAA Regional at Foley Field: Schedule, tickets

Georgia baseball is hosting an NCAA Regional for the second straight season.

The expected became official Sunday night May 25 when the 16 NCAA Tournament hosts were announced via social media.

The Bulldogs are 29-4 at Foley Field this season.

The entire 64-team tournament field will be announced on Monday May 26 on a selection show at 12 p.m. ET on ESPN2. The four-team regionals will be held Friday May 30 through Monday June 2.

Georgia (42-15) is widely projected to be a top 8 national seed which would assure it would host an NCAA Super Regional the following weekend should it advance. D1 Baseball, Baseball America and the Tennessean all project the Bulldogs as a No. 6 seed

The eight super regional winners will play in the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.

Georgia went 3-0 in the Athens Regional last season, beating Army, UNC-Wilmington and finally Georgia Tech in 10 innings to advance to the Super Regionals where it lost in three games to N.C. State.

"I think the biggest thing is, this team is a different team than last year and it's a new year," Georgia catcher Henry Hunter said. "Last year was a great season, but I think our biggest focus is right now."

Georgia is hosting its fourth NCAA Regional since 2018. It won the regional last year, but did not advance out of it in 2018 as a No. 9 seed and in 2019 as a No. 7 seed.

The Bulldogs were No. 8 last season and beat Georgia Tech 8-6 in 10 innings to finish unbeaten in the regional. Chandler Marsh got the win and Leighton Finley the save.

Georgia's last College World Series trip in 2008 started with a regional win in Athens when the Bulldogs lost to Lipscomb and then came back to beat Louisville, Lipscomb and Georgia Tech twice. Georgia also hosted regionals in 2001, 2004 and 2006.

Georgia entered Sunday at No. 2 in the RPI behind only Vanderbilt which moved past Georgia this week.

The Bulldogs went 18-12 in the SEC and carry a No. 7 strength of schedule nationally.

The Bulldogs went 24-2 in the nonconference and are No. 1 in adjusted nonconference RPI.
